CDSParser 1.0 (CodingSequenceParser version 1.0) was developed by Heather Vernon and Ryan Christensen at Brigham Young University under the direction of Dr. David McClellan. It is a powerful tool for downloading and organizing sequences from GenBank.

This program was developed to assist in the data collection and managment of sequences from GenBank. CDSParser allows users to group coding sequence names (useful when different names have been used for the same gene); this is similar to specifying synonyms for a paricular word. It also allows users to output the GenBank records by accession number or by taxonomy, create FASTA files, and create rough neighbor-joining trees from the FASTA files. These various outputs help users to quickly determine the extent of available data, in addition to helping them obtain a comprehensive selection of sequences in an easy-to-use format.
